Week 9: Green Olive

Our little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby Millhouse is kind of starting to look like... well... a baby! Our new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a Green Olive— and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. It's essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. His/her eyes are fully formed, but it's eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. His/her tiny earlobes, mouth, nose, and nostrils are also now more distinct.
